#SiptheRainbow14 : Re-Cap

Posted by Kim Wieczner on Mon, May 19, 2014

Our 3rd annual Sip the Rainbow celebration was Friday, and it truly was a party, all in celebration of the 10 year anniversary of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts!

The work of photographers Joel Benjamin, Marilyn Humphries & Susan Symonds was on display, and the night was complete with colorful cocktails and cake, a raffle, and some very special guests.  We asked guests to share their photos and posts, using the hashtag, #SiptheRainbow14, so we'll let some of the stand-outs speak for themselves...

We have changed over the gallery at the BCAE, with our latest exhibit a part of our 10 years of gay marriage celebration!

The Hard-Won Fight: America's First Legal Same-Sex Marriage
In 2003 and 2004, photographers Marilyn Humphries and Susan Symonds documented the dramatic fight for marriage equality as it played out from the extraordinary ruling by the Massachusetts Supreme Court in the Goodridge case to euphoric first weddings.

Sip the Rainbow

Sip the Rainbow is a favorite event of ours at the BCAE, but this year it is especially momentous, as it coincides with the 10th Anniversary of the first gay marriages in Massachusetts. On Friday, May 16th, guests at the event will enjoy signature cocktails in the colors of the Pride flag, as they mix and mingle their way through a lively celebration of an historic moment in our community and the nation. Beverages will be provided by the talented mixologists Ki Bar, with help from Polar Beverages and Deep Eddy Vodka.

Attendees will also get a special preview of two inspiring photo exhibits -- The Hard-Won Fight: America's First Legal Same-Sex Marriages featuring the work of Marilyn Humphries and Susan Symonds; and Marriage Equality/10th Anniversary Portraits featuring the work of Joel Benjamin.
