Life can be funny, but some days, everything from your overcrowded commute to the dreaded post-work grocery trip can feel like a bad joke. This November, take a stand and beat Life at its own lame joke game by trying your hand at telling some good ones!
Join the BCAE on November 5, 2011 from 2:00-4:30pm for the second annual "Closet Comics Big Break: Workshop & Audition." It doesn’t matter if you’ve never set foot on stage or if you’re an open-mic pro: this workshop and comedy audition will give you the chance to trade in all (well, 90 seconds to two minutes worth) of that material Life has thrown at you in return for belly laughs and toothy grins. Led by a group of homegrown improv and standup comics, students will workshop their best jokes into a 90-second usable stand-up routine that they will then perform in front of an audience of peers and a panel of judges.
“Dean of Students” and Professional Comedian Tony V will be on hand to MC the 5:00 pm comedy club style audition in the BCAE ballroom judged by a panel of celebrity judges.
The judges you’ll need to impress include:
There’s no two drink minimum at this club, so be sure to bring you’re a-game. The comic who makes the judges laugh harder than the rest will win a spot on the opening bill for Craig Robinson’s live performance at the Wilbur Theatre on November 20th, 2011 at 7:30pm.
If Closet Comics is a bit too concentrated for your taste, spread out the laughs by enrolling in our 6-week Stand-Up Comedy class. It meets Monday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm, starting on November 7th, and is guaranteed to lighten up the worst day of the week.
